Why Study Acting?
The idea exists out there that acting training is a waste of time. Or that it's something you might do to "tune up for pilot season." Or that training is less important than meeting people – casting directors, agents, producers, Hollywood parties, screenings, going to Sundance – the myth is strong that success is based primarily in such networking activity. Acting Classes
The main focus of the Beverly Hills Playhouse is on-going scene study acting class. These meet twice per week with an emphasis on acting scene work and the occasional exercise. In addition to these acting classes, we offer Audition Classes exclusively to our students, as well as classes for Young Actors (ages 7-18). READ MORE
Administration Groups
What are you doing to get your career moving right now? Do you need an agent? Is there a particular director you want to work with? How are your headshots? The Admin Groups at the BHP deal with these and other issues regarding your career and the business. The actors in each group help each other and hold each other accountable. Acting Teachers
The teachers at the Beverly Hills Playhouse have several qualities in common: they were all hand-picked by founder Milton Katselas to teach the unique BHP approach, they have studied (and continue to do so) at the BHP between 10 and 30 years, and they are all currently working professionals in the industry as actors, directors, producers and/or writers. Milton Katselas
Founder of The Beverly Hills Playhouse Acting School, Milton's career as a director began in the 1960s with the original off-Broadway production of Edward Albee's 'The Zoo Story'. He studied with Lee Strasberg and Sanford Meisner at the Actors Studio. In 1978 he founded the Beverly Hills Playhouse, which has become one of the top acting schools in Los Angeles. READ MORE
Acting School Locations
The BHP has four locations: The Beverly Hills and Los Feliz - Los Angeles Acting School, New York Acting School, and San Francisco Acting School. The two sites in the Los Angeles area each houses two theaters: a main-stage and a black box. The theaters have all been recently renovated with new seats, lights, and sound equipment. READ MORE
