After stealing a limousine and crashing it into a house while drunk, Gwen is given a choice between rehab and jail, so she chooses rehab. In this scene, which takes place at the rehab center, she approaches someone she thinks is a fellow recovering addict only to discover that it's actually her counselor. The counselor is male in the movie, but could certainly be female.
